The We Grew Up Here project is a new initiative by the non-profit organization EDUQUEST, funded by the Ministry of Culture, which aims to record, preserve, and disseminate the rich repository of local cultural heritage stories and sustainable development practices of the past from elderly people in our region.
The project will create a digital archive that will protect valuable knowledge that has been passed down from generation to generation. This knowledge, linked to traditions, local history, and ways of living in harmony with nature, is in danger of being lost over time.
Over the coming months, the EDUQUEST team will conduct interviews with elderly people who possess important information about local cultural narratives, traditional practices, and timeless ways of sustainable living. These personal stories will form the core of this new initiative and will be available on the organization’s website.
The project aims to bridge the intergenerational gap and pass on knowledge to future generations. At the same time, the project aims to raise awareness among young people about culture and the environment. It is an important step towards ensuring that local stories and knowledge continue to guide future generations.
