PROJECT DESCRIPTION
How prepared are we really to recognize climate disinformation and deal with false narratives that influence our daily lives?
CLIMAware is a European project that aims to strengthen citizens’ critical thinking and resilience against climate disinformation and misleading narratives spread mainly through digital media and social networks.
At a time when information spreads rapidly, citizens often struggle to distinguish reliable sources from misleading content. CLIMAware develops tools and educational activities that help people of all ages improve their critical thinking, digital literacy, and responsible media consumption skills.
Through participatory workshops, interactive activities, educational materials, and awareness campaigns, the project promotes a better understanding of climate change and encourages citizens to engage in a more informed public dialogue.
At the same time, the project places special emphasis on empowering vulnerable groups, young people, educators, and local communities by providing practical tools that help them identify misinformation, evaluate online content, and act as multipliers of trustworthy information.
The main objectives of the project are:
- To strengthen critical thinking and digital literacy related to climate change.
- To combat climate disinformation and false narratives surrounding environmental issues.
- To empower citizens, educators, and local communities through participatory and inclusive educational activities.
- To promote democratic participation and responsible information sharing.
- To strengthen cooperation between organizations and communities across Europe in addressing climate disinformation.
Through innovative tools, educational approaches, and awareness-raising activities, CLIMAware contributes to the creation of a more informed, resilient, and actively engaged society capable of responding to the challenges of climate change.
